Gunpla Therapy Ep. 8

In celebration of the most recent theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island, I went ahead and got the High Grade Doan’s Zaku!

The build experience for Zakus tend to be a dime a dozen, but this kit had the potential to be so much more. Out of the box, this kit required a lot of color correcting in order for it to really pop. I also took the liberty of painting the blade on the Heat Hawk Axe yellow, because I prefer the “activated” look of the weapon. This kit even offered some great decals! They included both weathered and non-weathered options for the water slide decals, which I appreciated.

This kit is truly incredible if you take the time to panel line and paint the battle damage on yourself.

With the amount of effort that I put into this build, I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner. However, there is nothing wrong with building it out of the box without all the extra detailing. As they say though, “Gunpla is freedom”. So go nuts and make your kits look however you want!
