One Piece Film Red opens in US with $4.7 million

Originally announced late last year, One Piece Film: Red has finally released in US theaters. Friday November 4th, it opened with $4,826,670 gross and on Saturday $2,688,581, following up with Sunday at $1,960,000. Totaling around $9,475,251 for the opening weekend!

Comparing that to its release in Japan, it opened with $16,696,815 between August 6-7. To date since its release in Japan, One Piece Film: Red has grossed $120,214,305. Making it the 6th highest grossing Japanese film in Japan, only behind “Howl's Moving Castle” by 2.24 million yen.
