The End of an Era: Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

Nintendo has recently announced that they will be ending “online play and other functionality that uses online communication” for the 3DS and the Wii U in April 2024 (Specific date TBD).

The beloved 3DS was released in 2011 and has been a staple in many gaming households since. While the underrated Wii U has been around since 2012, but hasn’t received as much love. The eShop will be closing down on both of these consoles in March. Although it’s sad to see these consoles go, Nintendo fans can rest easy knowing that the Nintendo Switch will have many years of support to come.
